Donald STILLMAN Obituary

STILLMAN, Donald Alan "Captain Hi-Test" January 17, 1944 - July 20, 2012 With profound grief we announce the sudden and tragic loss of Don. Pre-deceased by his mother, Olga, deeply loved and missed by his wife, Diane; brother, Kim; sisters, Beverly and Marilyn; daughters, Natalie, Pattie and Dominique; his grandchildren, Tylan, Taylor, Louisa, Zachary and Brixton ("Lil-Spike"). Don - "Captain Hi-Test" - was an exceptional man who quietly influenced and enriched the lives of all who knew him. He was a realtor, a prospector, but his first love was fishing, and for more than thirty-five years he charted the waters from his second home, Cheanuh Marina. Don worked as an engineer for fifty years, commencing at the Parliament Buildings and culminating in a long career at Victoria General Hospital. He was a devoted family man, who will be remembered for his sparkling eyes, bristly kisses and kind, patient and gentle ways. He taught us how to fish, make reed whistles and play the harmonica. He gave us the gifts of love and patience, and encouraged us to laugh, dance and enjoy life to the fullest. Please come share your happy memories at a Celebration of Life, to be held at the Royal Colwood Golf Course at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 3rd. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Don's name will contribute to a plaque in his honor at the Juan de Fuca Salmon Restoration Society 250-642-4200, 2895 Sooke River Road, Sooke, B.C. V9Z 0Y1.

I wish to extend my condolences to Don' family and friends. Don was my cousin-in-law and I have many fond memories growing up with him in my life. He was a super "cool" guy. Rest in peace, Don. I will never forget you.

Dear Diane and family:
Andy loved fishing with Don, what started to be a charter 20 years ago ended in a wonderful friendship that is going to be missed. How could a person not become friends with Don as he was the guy that everyone loved. His great laugh and wonderful glint of mischief in those eyes. We are so sorry for your loss, our hearts go out to you.

Dear Diane and family,
How fortunate we were to have moved in right across the street from your beautiful new retirement home. Even though we only knew Don for a short six months, his warm and welcoming personality defied time, we feel his loss deeply and miss his presence in our lives.
We extend hugs and condolences to you. Please know that you are in our caring thoughts.
