BAXTER, Doris Pearl (nee Clement) October 18, 1923 - June 9, 2013 Doris passed away peacefully on a beautiful, warm evening at Saanich Peninsula Hospital after a brief illness. She was a devoted mother to son, Warren (Elizabeth), granddaughter Sarah (Greg Cormier), great grandsons Denis and Eliot, granddaughter Jillian (Brandon Harvey), daughter Wendy (John Welch), and grandsons; Baxter, Sam, and Duncan. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband John (2009), and beloved son, Denis (2005), and siblings; Tom, Basil, Jack, Dennis, Violet, Kitty (Malcolm Stevens), and Helen (Ralph Holte). Mom was born at home in West Vancouver to Lloyd and Annie Clement. She was raised in North Vancouver, B.C. and worked briefly for the Bank of Montreal in Vancouver. Doris married John, her high school sweetheart, in 1945 when the war ended. Mom and Dad were married for 64 years and enjoyed homes in West Vancouver, Westbank, Nanoose, and the Saanich Peninsula. Holidays to Mexico were very special for them. Doris was a lucky fisher, an avid gardener, a strong swimmer and an accomplished knitter. She was kind and gracious, taking much comfort from all her family and friends, though she had a special delight in her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She will be deeply missed, and will always be in our hearts.
