Dorothy Mae "Dot" EASTON

Obituary

Passed away peacefully with sister Vivian at her side, at Nanaimo Regional Hospital, Saturday, January 19, 2013.

She was born March 4,1925 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Dot will be fondly remembered by many island residents from the years she owned and operated Dot's Coffee Stop, situated on Island highway, north Nanaimo. She then went on to open a second location, Dot's Coffee Shop, in Parksville . She married Barry Easton March 17,1973 and together they would enjoy their home and acreage in Ladysmith. This was familiar territory as she had operated a coffee shop at the Ladysmith Bus Depot from 1952-1957. Husband Barry preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her sister Vivian Davis and her close Nanaimo/Ladysmith family, nephew Michael Reeves (Anna), niece Christine Wotherspoon (Rod), niece Lyne Marshall and step-daughter Lynn Madison, Prince George B.C. Dot was born into a large family and will be sadly missed by her step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan. We will miss her straight forward approach to life, her fierce loyalty and loving support. Not given to dwelling on the negative, she was a source of strength and point of reference for so many of us.

To honor her wishes, a tea will be held in her home at 12/652 Bruce Avenue, Nanaimo BC. Family and friends are invited to gather anytime between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday February 9, 2013.

This obituary was originally published in the Nanaimo Daily News and Harbour City Star (Nanaimo, BC).
