Elizabeth Andreas Obituary

It is with hearts filled with great sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing Mother, Bette. Creative, imaginative and incredibly loving, she raised her 4 kids with fierce determination and gentle guidance. Mom loved her friends and there was no such thing as a stranger to her. An astonishing hostess, she was famous for her dinner parties and cocktail parties, they were doozies filled with great food, never-ending wine and tons of laughter! Mom had her Life Masters in Bridge and enjoyed the game her whole life travelling around the world to play. Mom leaves her ever-grateful children - sons John Kroshus, Jim Kroshus (Roseline) and daughter, Mary Dalsin and 11 grandchildren. Son, Dick, predeceased her in 1992. Also, Mom leaves a very devoted and very special friend, Jean-Pierre Michiels. A celebration of life will be held at Berwick House Royal Oak, 4680 Royal Oak Dr. on November 13th, from 2 - 4pm, in the pub.

Dear John, Jim and Mary,
I was so sorry to hear two days ago that your mother had died. She was such a wonderful friend to our family and we enjoyed so many wonderful times with her. Your Grandmother, Grace, was a special friend to my father, Keith Marshall and even after Grace died, Bette brightened our lives. I live in Ottawa and I always looked forward to visiting my Dad, playing bridge and hearing all the fun things from Bette. I also remember many fun parties around her hot tub. She was a wonderful, caring, thoughtful and loving person and it must have been fun to have her as your mother. I am truly saddened by her passing.

Dear John, Jim and Mary, you likely won't remember me but I remember all of you. I was Dick's friend in grade school, and I spent a fair amount of time with him at your house. I was thinking about your mother today, and thought I'd look her up. I knew that she'd moved to Victoria years ago and that she was an avid bridge player. I also knew from my sister that that she went back to Moose Jaw in 2010 for a Central Collegiate anniversary. So until today I knew that she was well and busy enjoying her life. Only today I learned the sad fact that she has passed, and I want you to know how sorry I am and and how fond I was of her. She was one of the finest people I have ever known - kind, warm and funny. She took Dick and I to Regina in 1972 for some Christmas shopping. It was so much fun to see "the big city" with all the Christmas displays in the stores downtown - the Santa and Mrs. Clause automated display in the windows of the Simpson's Store's window case was especially thrilling. Your mother was, as you already know, a lovely lovely lady and I am sad tonight. Although I know how belated my respects are, I want to extend my sympathies to you and make sure to tell you how very awesome I thought your Mom was. My deepest sympathies to each of you. Kindest regards, Roger Francoeur

Mary, John, Jim and families...your mom was one in a million (a billion in today's world!)....Bette was 'BETTE', no one else like her....so full of life and love (especially for her family)...I'll always remember her as a beautiful woman (inside and out), a woman of style and grace, imparted in the most down-to-earth manner, always welcoming and caring, with a wonderful sense of humour. How lucky I am to have known such a rare gem of a human being....thank-you BETTE.

This dear and wonderful woman was such a bright light at the bridge table. She was considerate, thoughtful and gracious, not just at the bridge table but in everything she did. Bette hosted a lovely luncheon for me a couple of years ago at the Victoria Golf Club in honour of my marriage. She had that special quality so many of us strive to achieve....natural grace, charm and beauty. She will be missed.
