The Guest Book is expired.
Late of Port Alberni, BC.
Predeceased by father, Ernst Helmuth Heitmann and mother, Hermine Luise Heitmann (nee Huesing). He is survived by one brother, Horst Krueger and sisters, Inglelore Drewes and Ulricke Schwarzrock, all of whom currently reside in Germany. He also leaves behind many local relatives and friends; Tante Tina, Uncle Horst, cousins Dagman, Monika and Heidi, as well as special friends Lorna and Earl.
He left the accounting profession behind him when he left his native country Germany for the wide open, wild country of northern British Columbia some 45 years ago.
Those who knew Helmut would have to agree that he was stubbornly honest, honestly stubborn and quick to light :)
He spent many years up north in a log cabin, where his beard would freeze at night due to a lack of firewood. This pleased him. Helmut was well read which provided hours of enlightening conversation supplemented by his collection of classical music. The statistics of hockey teams and players provided much of the conversational fodder. His intelligence and knowledge was respected by all who knew him.
It is probably best to let Helmut speak his own last words and so he quotes, "I had a free and wild life, very much to liking. The most glorious time I had was all by my lonesome 23 miles north Chetwynd, BC, looking after 14 horses and one very smart mule. My most painful time was when a Charolais bull parked his hoof on my runner covered foot and relief came only when he moved on to his next bite. My take on life, `Non, jene regrette rien (Edith Piaf)'; No, I regret nothing, except, for when will the Canucks win the cup?? Cheers to all and live good lives". Helmut.
