June 18, 1928 ~ September 30, 2012

George was born in his family home above the "Bittern Lake General Store" in Bittern Lake, Alberta. He grew up mostly as a farm boy. In 1972 he left Alberta and came to Port Alberni. He married his wife, Colleen and had 3 awesome humans. At the age of 45, he went logging for L.A. McKay. His logging career ended after a large log rolled on top of him. He lived! George then droved truck between the mills on the waterfront for Gary Haggard. He later worked for the Port Alberni Association for Community Living (Arrowsmith Services as it was then called), from 1982 to 2004.

He taught his talent of wood working to the clients. He loved working with all the clients, often referring to them as "his family". George loved Jesus and enjoyed sharing his faith. He was a passionate man, always giving of himself whole heartedly. He had many stories to tell and we enjoyed listening to them, over and over :) He had a wonderful sense of humour and was so proud of his children and grandchildren. We, his family and all who knew and loved him will miss him greatly.

"Good-bye George, we will always love and miss you"
