Howard CHENOWETH Obituary

CHENOWETH Howard Beatty (b. November 18, 1918 - d. July 28, 2004). In an early evening hour on Tuesday, July 28, 2004, Howard Chenoweth, dearly loved husband of Margaret and father of Diane and Elaine passed away peacefully with his family byhis side at the Nanaimo General Hospital. Howard will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Margaret Chenoweth of Ladysmith and daughters, Diane Van Iderstine of Cochrane and Elaine Chenoweth of Victoria; grandchildren, Drew Van Iderstine (Danna), Bruce Maniel (Deanne), Tobi Van Iderstine (Heather), Kevin Maniel and Kelli Bosteder (Joe); great-grand- children, Brooklyn, Kaisha, Brooke, Annastazia and Marshall. Howard, son of Georgina and Norman Chenoweth was born in Angusville, Manitoba on November 18, 1919. His early schooling was accomplished in Russell and later he achieved the first of numerous educational degrees at United College in Winnipeg. An accomplished educator and educational administrator, Howard was presented with a number of awards throughout his career and earned the highest kudos from those who knew him best as husband and father. For over 15 years Howard and wife, Margaret enjoyed living near Ladysmith in a most lovely country setting with two adoring felines, Tai Chi and Patches. Their interesting lifestyle included a variety of hobbies and business ventures as well as numerous visiting opportunities with their family and friends. An extremely clever and resourceful individual throughout his lifetime, Howard was deeply admired and respected for his depth of grasp of a wide range of complex and intriguing subjects. His zeal for in-depth study and interesting and informative discourse made his family and friends seek him out for many a stimulating debate. A special thank you to his family doctor of many years, Dr. Bone Roberts of Ladysmith and to staff of the Nanaimo General Hospital. Funeral service Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Telford's Mortuary Chapel, followed by burial in Ladysmith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated. Arrangements confidently assigned to Telford's Mid-Island Memorial Services Nanaimo 751-2254 Ladysmith 245-5553.
