James Hogg Obituary


HOGG, James Simpson Born in Victoria, May 25th, 1917. Died February 14th, 2006 peacefully and much loved in the Royal Jubilee Hospital. He was predeceased by his brother William in 1977, and leaves to mourn him his sister-in-law Beverley, her sister Kathleen; his beloved nephew James (Barb), Lyssa and Thomas Hogg; nieces Margaret (Ian), James, Phillip and Alexander Carmichael; and Kathleen (Bryan Bechler), Allana and Jessica Costigan; cousin Joy (Doug Burnett); and many cousins in Victoria and England. Jim was baptized in the church of St. John the Divine and remained an active part of the church community throughout his life. He led a purposeful life involved in the welfare of his community and was a loyal and caring friend to many. Jim was a tremendously respected member of the Masonic Order. At the time of his passing, he was the senior living Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of B.C. and Yukon. He also was a highly honoured member of other concordant bodies throughout Canada and the U.S. Jim was very appreciative of the care and skills of the nurses and doctors in his last illness and his family sincerely thanks these caregivers. A memorial service is to be held on Saturday February 25th, at 2pm at the Church of St. John the Divine, 1611 Quadra St., Victoria, BC. Brethren attending should wear aprons, jewels, and business suits. In lieu of flowers, donations to charity of choice. 209410

Will fondly remember the example Jim set for of us in the Masonic Fraternity, he was the "Perfect Mason". Jim was Grand Master in 1969 when I joined Freemasonry. Will try to exemplify your example.
