BALL, John William On November 9th, 2013 John went up to eternal rest with his family by his side following a brief stay in Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative Care Unit. He was born on February 13th, 1929 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Victoria, B.C. and lived his entire life on Southern Vancouver Island. John is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his daughter Katherine (Mark Friesen) and his son, Graham. Also surviving are his grandchildren, John, Erin, Bryan, Alex and Kevin as well as 10 nieces and nephews. After his retirement from the business world, John spent many happy, busy years, golfing, curling, volunteering, walking, travelling, reading and collecting, especially stamps. He was an active member of two stamp clubs. John's family wishes to express gratitude to all the doctors and other professional people who attended him. Special thanks to all the wonderful people in Palliative Care who cared for him with professionalism, love and compassion. At John's request there will be no service. Flowers declined, but thoughts and prayers are gratefully accepted.
