RAINER, Joseph George April 27, 1921 - September 22, 2013 With family at his side, Joe passed away peacefully on September 22, 2013. He was born in Glenada, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his wife, Edith; his parents, Arthur and Grace and sister, Nellie. Survived by his 5 children, Valerie (Don), Jerry (Karen), John (Valerie), Don (Sandi), Louise (Mark). Survived also by his brother, Jim; his sisters, Marion and Jean; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by other family members and friends. Many thanks to all the staff on 7N at VGH for the excellent care he received during his stay there. A WWII veteran served overseas during the liberation of the Netherlands, co-owned Victoria Ambulance Service 1950 - 1974, Supervisor Provincial Ambulance 1974 until retirement in 1985, huge Canucks/Blue Jays fan, avid golfer, enjoyed hunting/fishing, "silky smooth dancer". A kind, caring compassionate gentle man with a great love of family. A Celebration of Joe's life will be held at McCall's Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Laura T. Kavanaugh officiating. A reception will follow in the McCall's Family Centre. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.
