Kathleen SINCLAIR Obituary

SINCLAIR, Kathleen (Bubbles) (nee Bernard) 1920 2012 Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great and Great-Great Grandmother passed peacefully from this life on March 29, 2012, surrounded by her girls, Heather, Janet, Lin, Margaret, and Betsy. Kathleen has left us to rejoin her husband, James (Jimmy) Sinclair; her mother and father, Rose and Tom Bernard; her dear sister, Doreen; and her dearest grandson, Michel, in the life hereafter. Kathleen led a remarkable life, from a young war bride, wife to a dynamic and charismatic politician, mother to five very independent daughters, and grandmother to eleven dearly loved grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, as Jimmy would say, "There's never a dull moment in our house. " Although she travelled the world, moved her family back and forth to Ottawa during the political years, her heart always remained in B.C. From her birth in the Okanagan, to growing up in West Vancouver, raising her family in North Vancouver, and finally living her last years in Victoria, she was happiest being close to the mountains and oceans she so loved, surrounded by beautiful gardens and trees, and being "G " to the four generations of her much loved family. She was a gracious kind woman to all she met, a true and loyal friend, a loving aunt to her large, extended family, and to the end a reliable source for family lore going back more than 90 years. She will be sorely missed by her daughters, Heather Walker (Tom), Toronto; Janet Sinclair, Vancouver; Rosalind (Lin) Nelson (Fred), Tucson, AZ; Margaret Trudeau, Montreal; and Betsy Dening (Robin), Brentwood Bay; her three generations of grandchildren, Wendy, Katie, Justin, Sacha, Robert, Sarah, Jamie, Kyle, Chloe, Ally, Ryan, Garet, Eric, Katelyn, Kami, Michelle, Marko, Pierre, Xavier, Gala, Ella Grace, Anna, Ariane, Emily, Mackenzie, Odin and Daniel. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Broadmead Lodge, their care and compassion towards Mum and our family was so appreciated by all. A private funeral will be held for family and friends. 652522

Although so very late, my heartfelt wishes for healing and peace go out to all of you. Bubbles was a delight; I was very young still when she would come to visit in the Shuswap, to see "Auntie Kate" and her cousins, but I remember her well. She has left you, indeed, all of us, a legacy of grace and kindness.

We've just heard of Bubble's death, our condolences. She was much loved by her cousins in the Shuswap and Salmon Arm area, and I had the priviledge of meeting her several times, and our family was the recipient of her, along with her sister Doreen's, kindness and thoughtfulness.
Thinking of your family at this time,

On behalf of the members of Clan Sinclair Association of Canada, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Sinclair family. Many of us have met some of you personally, some not - but we all share a "family" connection and you are in our thoughts.

Sincerely,

My condolences to the Sinclair family. Having lost my beloved mother, Frances Harman, at the age of 92 years. Mom's passing ended our life in West Vancouver and all the memories of a family of five children growing up in Dundarave with the mountains and the ocean. I miss my mother deeply, and know that Margaret and her sisters will also grieve their beloved mother but be thankful for the love and kindness she gave to those that knew her.

Your dear Grandma & Mum will be missed so dearly. I remember my Mum's dear friend Bubbles. My Mum Marjory Faulkes (nee O'Donnell) was a school chum of Bubbles & part of the chaperone posse on excursions to Hollyburn Mtn with Jimmy & Bubbles. When my parents married Kathleen made my parents' wedding cake in 1942. She was a devoted bridge partner with my Mum, Percy Gray & Thelma Atkinson. Bubbles and Mum were lifelong friends. The night Margaret & Pierre married I remember Bubbles phoning and telling Mum the whole hush hush details & telling her about Margaret's creative handiwork for the event!! (i still have a copy of the Trudeau's wedding cake recipe) My dear Mum passed in 1988 & Bubbles really missed her. My husband & I were so happy to have Jimmy & Bubbles at our wedding & Bubbles & the Grays came to my daughter's wedding in the 90's. Bubbles was a kind, intelligent, creative, loyal & gracious person. Her "bubbly" personality blessed all those whose lives she touched. RIP Bubbles - there will be a great reunion in heaven!!! May God comfort all your family in your profound loss! In find remembrance, Patricia Revill

Mrs. Sinclair was a part of my childhood just as surely as Howick Street was the only street in the Village and RPPS the only school in town. I knew her as Margie's Mom and as one of my Mother's best friends. Both mothers were born in 1920 and now both gone (Mother last August). It's the way of it but I am sad. Love to you all.

My mother is Marie Bernard and was Kathleen's cousin. I grew up in North Vancouver and met the family, in fact I learned to swim at their home in West Vancouver. My mother passed away recently and now Kathleen. All very sad. This is an amazing family and I join them in sympathy for their loss.

She was such an important part of my childhood and I treasured every occasion I saw her after she moved from North Van. She was the most beautiful, gracious, kind woman and I was blessed to have known her. All five of you and your families know I have you in my heart.

I did not know Mrs. Sinclair personally. However, my mother (who died two years ago) mentioned her often when she lived in Richmond and I believe Mrs. Sinclair attended my mom and stepdad's 25th anniversary in 1999. My friend, Claudine, who worked with Justine at a Coquitlam school, phoned to let me know about the obit. It is with great sadness I write this as I know too well how hard it is to accept the passing of your mother/grandmother but the memories bring peace each and every new day.

Kathleen was a wonderful woman who always made me feel like part of the family. I can't express how much her kindness meant to me. She will be greatly missed.
