BARTER, Kenna Laraine (nee McKay) January 22, 1955 - February 20, 2013 Kenna was born in Kelowna, BC, and died peacefully at Victoria Hospice. She is survived by her daughter, Shauna, and her son, Shane (Melissa Duong); her dearly loved 3-year-old grandson, Sidney, who was fortunate to have such a generous and loving Grandma; her mother, Gerry McKay; her sisters, Barbara Sawatsky (Doug) and Marnie McKay (Richard LeVert); her nieces Taunya, Tasha and Laura and her nephew James, as well as her "greats", Cassandra and Angus; and many close friends. Kenna was predeceased by her father, Gordon McKay. A huge thank you to Kenna's many friends from over the years who took the time to visit her regularly, especially Marie and Linda who always made her laugh, Al and Ralph from her workplace, Velma, Donna, Mary, and her friends from Beaver Lake. You all made a big difference to her long hospital stay. The family would like to add a special note of appreciation to the caring staff, doctors and volunteers on the RJH Oncology ward and at Hospice. In accordance with her wishes, Kenna will be cremated. There will be a "tea party" at a later date, to be arranged by her son and daughter, to honour and celebrate this member of our family whose heart was made of gold and who retained her wonderful sense of humour to the very end. "Those we love don't go away They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved and missed and ever dear."
