ALLEN, Lorna Margaret (nee Colwell) At approximately 12:45pm, on Sunday August 25th 2013, Lorna passed away in a private moment to join her beloved Edward… Mother's mid-day departure was an affair of inner solitude with her handsome spiritual groom Eddy patiently waiting for her warm loving embrace… Ninety eight years and six months has passed since Lorna Margaret Colwell was born on February 15th, 1915 in Oakville, Ontario. Lorna's adventure began very early in the foothills of the Himalayas in India. Her parents, Doctor Harry Colwell and mother Annie (Wallace) Colwell, became medical missionaries and set their sights upon India. They gathered their family clan and set forth towards the plains of India for a sojourn (a temporary stay) lasting approximately 18 years. During Mother's childhood, teenage years, and post-adolescence, she travelled far and wide, educated at the world renowned boarding school of Woodstock in Mussoorie, U.P. India. Upon returning to Canada, she commenced nurses' training with her beloved sister Louise at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, where Lorna graduated with honours, as head of the class of 1939. Lorna met her soul mate and the love of her life, Edward William Allen, our beloved father, and sealed their future destiny with a kiss seventy-four years ago upon the summit of Mount Douglas, Victoria, BC. Mother was also an accomplished author of her published work "Thursday's Daughter", which tells stories from the letters of their family's journey while in India. Our immediate family members of six children: Sharon (Bill), John (Hazel), Robert, Margaret, Maureen (Hal), Jim (Darlene) - and extended family including nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends - celebrate Lorna's life with a warm tear of remembrance for our remarkable MATRIARCH'S journey of departure. We also wish to express our profound gratitude to the entire nursing and care team of the Beacon Home Support Staff and Oak Bay Lodge (Dogwood Two), who complemented our Mother's final passage towards the star dust of the Heavens above…… A Celebration of Lorna's Life will be held on Saturday September 7th, 2013 at 1:00pm, at First Memorial Funeral Services - 1155 Fort Street, Victoria, BC, V8V 3K9 - (250) 384-5512
