TUSAR, Lydia 1920 – 2012 Lydia passed away at Glengarry Hospital in Victoria, BC on October 31st. She is survived by her son Denis (Eneken) - Vancouver, only grandchild Lysanne - Hong Kong, daughter Anne Burgess (Earl) - Quesnel. Her husband of more than 60 years, Paul Tusar predeceased Lydia in November 2003. Originally from Estonia, the Tusar family emigrated to Sweden in 1944 and to Victoria in 1951. Lydia grew up in Haapsalu, Estonia, where she studied as a nurse and social worker. She worked as a nurse at Mount St. Mary's Hospital and then for the Provincial Government until her retirement in 1985. A profoundly caring person, she was a devoted wife and mother, a proud grandmother, and a beloved friend to her extended family Marje, Brent and Sean Owens. Lydia loved the outdoors and the family spent many happy days at their summer cottage. She was a gifted artist and, over the years, many of her oil paintings were displayed in Victoria and Vancouver. We extend our gratitude to Dr. MacPherson and to her caregivers for their kindness, care and companionship. And finally, we thank the staff at Glengarry Hospital who took care of her during her final days.
