McCORQUODALE, Margaret Doreen (Robinson) September 24, 1920 - February 10, 2013 Doreen McCorquodale of Tsawwassen died peacefully on February 10. She was 92. Doreen was born in Liverpool, England in 1920 and grew up in North Wales. When war broke out in 1939, Doreen abandoned her arts school studies and entered nursing training at Guy's Hospital in London, England. On qualifying, she joined the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service (QA's), serving with the British Army in Italy (1944) and in Rawalpindi, Kashmir (1945-46). She met Allister in Rawalpindi and they married in England, in April 1947. Over the following years, Doreen and Allister brought up their young family in Scotland, England, Zimbabwe and Germany before immigrating to Canada in 1957, eventually settling happily in Tsawwassen. Doreen took pride in her profession and particularly enjoyed her work as an RN with the Delta Public Health Unit. She was a talented artist. She and Allister were two of the founding members of the Delta Borderers Scottish Country Dancers and she danced regularly until she was 84. Her beloved Allister died in 2006. Doreen and Allister are survived by their children Sheena, Anne (Julio), John (Juliette) and Elizabeth (Don); grandchildren Stephen, Anna (Taylor), Andrew, Alexander, Anneke and Connor; and great grand-daughters Luisa, Josephine and Isabella. A memorial service will be held at St David's Anglican Church, 1115 51A Street in Tsawwassen on Sunday March 3 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations could be sent to a medical or charitable organization of your choice, with the family's appreciation.
