ROBERTSON, Margaret Elaine of Cochrane, Alberta, formerly of Victoria, B.C., passed away peacefully with her daughter, Linda at her side, at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey, Alberta on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Margaret was born at the RCMP barracks in Lethbridge, Alberta on December 17, 1923, where she lived for a few short years before her family relocated to the Maritimes. During the mid-1930's, her father decided to retire and they then moved to Victoria, B.C. Margaret finished high school in Victoria and enlisted with the Woman's Army Corp. It was there that she met the love of her life, George, and the happy couple was married in 1945. Margaret and George raised their family and resided for many years in Victoria where Margaret remained until late 2009, at which time her health began to fail and she wanted to be closer to family. Margaret lived a full life, devoted to her family and her love of purebred dogs. As an all-breed dog show judge, she traveled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. Her judging also took her to many exotic locations encompassing almost all continents. "Margaret was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all. " Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Linda (Gerald) Hewitt of Rimbey; her cherished grandchildren, Melody of Cochrane, Alex (Courtney) also of Cochrane; Danny (Chauntal) of Airdrie, Alberta; and Marci and her special fourfooted friend, Juno of Calgary. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister, Catherine McLaren of Victoria; her nephews, Keith (Judy) of Sidney, B.C.; and Robert (Michaela) of Vancouver, B.C.; as well as her many friends in and outside of the dog show game. Also mourning her loss is Margaret's special friend, "Mischief ". Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, George in 1993; her parents, Christian and Chloe Junget; an infant brother, Charlie; and her brother-in-law, Tom. An Interment Service and Reception in Margaret's Honour will be held at the Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Margaret's Memory may be made directly to BC and Alberta Guide Dog Services, 6050 44 Avenue, Delta, B.C. V4K 3X7.
