Marie Cooper

July 14, 1934 - March 31, 2017

Born July 14, 1934 at Tsartlip to Martin and Esther Cooper. Marie passed away peacefully, March 31, 2017, at home. Predeceased by her sisters Stella and Cecelia and her brothers Henry, Art, John, and Manny. Survived by her brother Martin, her sister May and her life long friend Fran and many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Saanich Adult Care, Marina Farkas, Jacqui Paul, Dr. Harper, Dr. Manklow, Beacon Community Services, Nancy Schultz from the Peninsula Health Unit, and the Mt. Newton Centre for their kindness, support and care. Marie was a tireless advocate and leader in Education and for her people. Marie's passing is a poignant reminder of her immense legacy which is a lasting gift to her community, the WSANEC School Board, School District 63, Camosun College and the University of Victoria. A prayer service will be offered on Thursday April 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. and a Service will be held Friday April 7, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Pauquachin Hall, 9010 West Saanich Rd, North Saanich, BC. A luncheon will follow at Pauquachin Hall.
