Mary GOWER-REES Obituary

GOWER-REES, Mary On October 17, 2011 the world lost an extraordinarily gentle, gracious lady. Mary was born in England on July 12, 1917. After the Second World War she trained and then worked as a supervisor in pediatrics and obstetrics at Montreal Children's Hospital. A long time resident of Beechwood, she used her nursing degree to assist with yearly flu shots. Mary was an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for many years. Mary's strong faith was very important to her. She volunteered with St. Mary's Church Altar Guild. Mary was a fine artist, and her needlework was superb. She spent many hours on her loom work which she donated to fundraising efforts. Mary generously supported numerous charitable causes. She loved to travel and experience new adventures. Her twinkling eyes and quick smile always brought friendship and fun to all her friends and everyone she met. During her lifetime she selflessly helped so many people. She will truly be missed. A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 1973 Cultra Avenue, Saanichton, on Wednesday, November 9th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. 641947

Dear Mary, Although our time together was short, the memory of your love of life, gentleness, sense of humour, joyous laugh and big loving heart will remain with me always. You opened your heart and shared some wonderful memories and for this I am so thankful. You have been a very special "Cousin". Much love, Poppet (G-R)

Dear Mary as we remember her when she stayed with us in England for a few short memorable days

Loving and kind in all her ways,
Upright and just to the end of her days;
Sincere and true, in her heart and mind,
Beautiful memories, she left behind.

With fondest love and in remembrance of many "family" moments.
