Mary Sharp (Allin) was born in Sintaluta Sask. She had three siblings (Melville, James and Grace). Her parents, Emma and Walter, were farmers and ranchers. Mary decided to become a teacher and received her qualifications in 1925. Later she married Merle Sharp and moved to Montreal where she taught kindergarten for many years. Their daughter Marjorie was born there in 1946 and died in 1967. Mary loved living in Montreal, and there she was able to indulge her love of the symphony and ballet. She also loved travelling, and she and Marjorie spent a wonderful summer travelling together all over Europe.

In 1975, Mary and Merle moved to Victoria where they lived for many years. Merle died in 1993, and Mary continued living in her apartment by herself until the age of 102.

She moved to Berwick on the Lake in Nanaimo and resided there until her death at age 105.

Mary was a lovely, kind and generous person. She was extremely intelligent and was always interested in current affairs and what was happening in the world. She is greatly missed by all of her friends, and her Allin and Sharp relatives.
