BAMFORD, Norman Charles Henry Norman passed away peacefully at Cowichan District Hospital on the morning of April 7, 2011 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie and is survived by son Wayne (Lucy) Bamford, daughter Toni King and grandchildren Katlin, Kristin, Jennifer, Christina and Brent. Norman was born in Hampton, England and served with The Royal Engineers during the Second World War. He was one of the few remaining survivors of the evacuation at Dunkirk. He and Marjorie immigrated to Ontario in 1947 where they raised their family and Norman enjoyed a successful career in Corrections. They retired to Vancouver Island in 1980. Norm's sense of humour and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank Norm's friend Doreen for her companionship, as well as the staff at Sunridge Place and the Cowichan District Hospital. In keeping with Norman's wishes, there will be no Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Society of B.C. 623021
