Norman Strandberg Obituary
STRANDBERG, Norman Victor Born May 15th, 1934 in Nelson, B.C. Died peacefully at home in Qualicum Beach on September 18th, 2008 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Survived by his wife of 49 years, June, two sons, Dave (Cindy) and Mike, and one daughter Liz Virgin (Bryan), five grandchildren, Kevin, Kelsey, Jessica, Brandy and Tanner, two brothers, Pat (Andrea) in Prince George, Tom in Golden, two sisters, Lois in Medicine Hat, Alta. and Dianne (Ray) in Vernon. Dad started delivering groceries for Salmo Overwaitea on his bike at age 14. He worked his way up to manager and managed stores in Kaslo, Golden, Parksville and French Creek. He was a member of the volunteer fire departments in Kaslo, Golden and Parksville. His passion was the outdoors either hunting, fishing or hiking. He also enjoyed bowling at Sunset Lanes, curling and the odd game of horseshoes. After retiring he very much enjoyed working on the "farm" and winter holidays on the island of Maui. Many thanks to Dr. John Brighton and the Home Care staff and nurses. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 28th at Yates Funeral Home, 1000 Allsbrook Rd., Parksville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to B.C. Wildlife Federation, Unit 101-3060 Norland Avenue, Burnaby, BC, V5B 3A6, or to the Salvation Army. 501233
