formerly of Port Alberni, passed away on August 31, 2012 at the age of 87 with her family by her side in Penticton. Remembered by her husband Tony, daughter Linda (Nick) Horbatch of Penticton, son Danny (Darlene) Zarazun of Qualicum Beach, granddaughter Angela (Joakim) Adler of Williams Lake, granddaughter Allison Horbatch of Kelowna and grandson Nicholas Horbatch of Penticton. She was born in Roblin, MB to Michael and Sophia Slusar. She was predeceased by sister Nettie Sheremeta and survived by sisters Doris Fostey of Winnipeg and Ann Styba of Roblin. Olga was a homemaker, caring mother and grandmother, avid gardener, seamstress, Ukrainian food caterer and an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church when she lived in Port Alberni. She was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and sang in numerous choirs. She also volunteered with the Alberni Sunshine Club. The family is grateful for the care and compassion provided to Olga by the staff at Haven Hill over the past 7 years in Penticton. A funeral service was held at Parkview Funeral Home in Penticton on Wednesday, September 5 at 10 am. Donations in Olga's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC.
