Olive Dickinson (nee Burnip) passed peacefully on November 29th 2012 in her 94th year after a long and remarkably valiant battle with Alzheimer's.
Olive was born and raised in Nanaimo BC and established herself early on as a great talent in the areas of dance, elocution and acting. She studied at Trinity College of Music in London England where she received a teaching degree in the field of Elocution. Olive continued her education at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London England until the bombing of the city in 1939 forced her return to Canada.
In 1942, Olive married her long time love Lieutenant Sydney Lea Dickinson (1915-2004), moved to Vancouver, and spent the next 62 years by his side. Together they raised 4 boys. Olive was known and loved for her charm, grace, style, humour and kind demeanour.
Survived by sons Warren, Deane and Drew; grandchildren Curtis, Dalaena, Darcy and Christopher; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Interment will be held at the Bowen Road Cemetery 555 Bowen Road in Nanaimo at 2:45 pm Friday Dec 7th with refreshments after at the Lighthouse Bistro. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer Society of Canada appreciated.
