LONGPHEE, Orma Grace January 13, 1925- January 3, 2013 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our loving mother and grandmother who died peacefully in her home. Her husband, of 54 years, George Edmond, predeceased Orma. Survived by her children, Greg (Deb), Jim, Peggy (Tony), Nancy, and Jeff (Deb), grandchildren Beverley, Alex, Asia, Ian, Meghan, Brittany, Reid, Bruce, Alexandra, Georgia & Katie and great-grandchildren Kayman, Kiara, Frankie, Evelyn, Avery & Rhys. Orma was an extremely generous and loving mother and grandmother. Orma was born in Brandon, Manitoba; the 2nd youngest child of William & Louise McGuinness, siblings Mary Oldfield, Coquitlam; Dorreene Inglis, Estevan; Ruth McGuinness, Brandon and Fred McGuinness, Brandon. She is survived by her sister Carol Young, Langley. Orma had loving memories of her siblings, nieces and nephews. Orma spent her formative years in Brandon, graduating from St. Michael's Academy, then graduating from Winnipeg General Hospital nursing program. After working as a RN she married George Edmond Longphee and with joy and commitment devoted her life to raising her family. They lived in Calgary before settling permanently in Sidney in 1972. Orma was an enthusiastic volunteer to Girl Guides and the Peninsula Well Baby Clinic. Her passions included piano, gourmet cooking, needlepoint, and tole painting. Orma was an avid gardener who specialized in roses and flower arranging. She became a qualified rose judge and loved teaching others about roses. Some of her greatest joys were spent in her garden and as a member of Peninsular Garden Club, Peninsula Floral Designers Club, and the Peninsular Rose Club. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. James Forster, and the Victoria Hospice, particularly her palliative caregivers, Dianna Llonick and Mary Sangster.
