Peter Beltgens Obituary

July 2, 1954 - February 19, 2014

Peter left us much too soon and will be dearly missed by Sharon, his loving wife and partner of 38 years, his devoted children Jeremy (Karla), Nicole (Steven), grandchildren Julianna and Luke, and siblings Gerry (Eileen), Betty and Paula (David).

Peter always willingly shared his time and expertise with family and friends, and his kind, generous spirit positively impacted everyone he met.

Peter never sat still for long and lived life to the fullest. He was active in the Volkswagen and mountain bike communities and a dedicated member of Metchosin Search and Rescue.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday March 1st, 2014 at The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort, 1999 Country Club Way, Victoria.

My condolences to Peter's Family. I first met Peter when he was 17. At the time he was trying to get the motor out of an old beetle using a floor jack, a shovel and a tree stump. Lots of great memories. I'll never forget his laugh.

Our Deepest sympathies to Peter's wife Sharon, their kids Jeremy and Nicole, the grandkids and the Beltgens siblings Gerald, Betty and Paula and families. You are such a tremendously close family, and our hearts go out to you all.
Peter, my wonderfully cool, handsome cousin would bring fun, clever wit, and adventure whenever he came to visit our family as kids, and matured into a man that made you feel proud to know him, wish you were more like him, and grateful to be in his positive and humorous presence.
I'll miss you Cuz

As life travels at warp speed, especially as us as humans age, we never get a moment to truly recognize the great people that come our way. Peter, you were a true original, great story teller, talented giving man who truly made my days at the company we were both employed with. I hope I can in my life exude the class you did in yours! God speed my friend. All the best to your family as they live on with they foundation you laid for them.

Dear Paula & family, Although it's been many years, I can still remember when Peter brought home the new Cat Stevens album, "Tea for the Tillerman" and played it over and over. Those songs became some of my favourites because of him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Friendships can be a fleeting thing sometimes. Peter and I knew of each other for years and were finally getting to know each other through a shared passion, Search & Rescue. Our conversations were superb, sharing histories and the people that we mutually knew and the aches and pains we shared. That was always good times.
I am proud to be your colleague and friend. My sincere condolences to the Beltgens family.

Peter was such a generous man and a nicer person you could not meet. Every week we would go mountain bicycling together, he was a very accomplished rider and loved to explore the trails. I will miss him very much and feel fortunate to have shared many laughs with him over the years.

So saddened to hear about Peter, he was such a wonderful person. I loved how he was friends with everyone and knew what everyone was up to. So many fond memories - from long ago - movies at Foul Bay, shopping carts and fast cars at the Woolco parking lot. His easy smile and generous spirit will be missed. My deepest condolences to Sharon and the Beltgens family.

We were saddened to hear about your family's devastating news. On a positive note, he was out doing what he loved with a group of good friends. Jeremy, Karla has always been a 'helper' and she will be a tower of strength and support for you and family. We unfortunately, are away in Mexico or would have been there for you all for the service.
