HARDING, Phyllis Irene Phyllis died peacefully on July 22, 2012 in Victoria, BC, after a year of failing health. She was born in Montreal, Quebec on October 26, 1921. In her late teens, Phyllis moved with her parents to Ottawa, ON, where she started her 38 year office career in the Federal Department of Energy, Mines and Resources and finished as secretary to the Deputy Minister. After early retirement, Phyllis moved to Victoria to enjoy the West Coast lifestyle and be near to family. She led an active life as a member of Christ Church Cathedral, Fairfield New Horizons, the Scottish Country Dancing Society, The Newcomers Club and enjoyed many lunches with friends, symphony concerts and fun times with great-nieces and great-nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by siblings, Dorothy and Charlie and is survived by her sister, Alice Sunderland of Victoria. All her many nephews and nieces will miss her twinkling eyes and great sense of humour, especially, niece, Beth Street and son, David Street (Alisa), their children, Derrick and Breanna of Victoria and daughter, Karen Greenwood and her family, Jennifer Friesen (Clint), Bill and Jessica Greenwood all of Saskatchewan and nephew, Grant Harding (JoAnn) and their family, daughter, Tami Harding-Paul and her children, William and Madison and son, Kyle, all of greater Vancouver. Phyllis' cheery, outgoing personality will be missed by many other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Ross Place, Beacon Home Care, Sascha Slootweg RN and Dr. Suzi Leggatt for all their care and many kindnesses. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Christ Church Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
