Robert C. Dobbs

November 09, 1935 - May 23, 2016

We are devastated by the loss of Bob, our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He died nearly two weeks after suffering a sudden massive stroke. Bob is survived by his wife Nancy; his children Kevin, Becky (partner Marc), Ananda Umar (spouse Bobby), and Curran; his step-children Heather, Stephen, and Glenn Mackay; his grandchildren Josephine & Graysen Dobbswall, Nyal & Ryah Umar, Kayla Mackay & Conner Pearce, and Logan & Jordann Mackay; his brothers Dennis and Rick (spouse Pam); his first wife Eileen (spouse Neill); and numerous other family members and friends, including the community of the First Unitarian Church of Victoria. He is predeceased by his son Colin, his brother Steve and Dennis' wife Betty. Bob was a provider, advisor and guardian to many. His greatest joy was to nurture and serve others, especially his kids and grandkids. He did whatever he could to ensure we all felt loved, safe and comfortable. He cooked feasts, baked pies, played Santa, researched solutions, fixed shelves, edited documents, wrote cheques and opened his home to everyone. Bob had a long career with Forestry Canada and retired early to spend his last two decades with family, travel and serving the Unitarian Church. He celebrated his 40th anniversary to his beloved Nancy, and his 80th birthday with his family late last year. In lieu of flowers, please offer a gift to a humanitarian charity of your choice.
