BECKETT, Robert Craig February 3, 1951 - January 13, 2013 Robert Craig Beckett passed away unexpectedly after a short illness at the age of 61 years at the Victoria General Hospital. Robert was born in Calgary, Alberta, and lived for a short time in Clinton Creek in the Yukon Territory. Robert and his family moved to Victoria, BC in 1991. Robert was predeceased by both his parents Bernard Oliver Beckett and Evelyn Wilma Merrifield of Calgary. He is survived by his wife Gurcharn Beckett and his daughters Shannon Evelyn Beckett and Sarah Anne Beckett. He is also survived by his sons-in-law Robert James and Bradley Aschenbrenner, and his grandson Lucas Beckett Aschenbrenner. Robert was looking forward to the arrival of his second grandchild in March. Robert grew up in Alberta and was a keen hiker and mountaineer in his youth. His love of the outdoors continued throughout his life, and he went on many camping and hunting trips over the years. Robert will be missed by friends and family in BC and Alberta, who will remember him for his good-natured humour and kindness. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday January 21, 2013. at 2pm, at the First Memorial Funeral Home, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Victoria SPCA may be made.
