ASPESTRAND, Sven Ake Sven Aspestrand passed away, as the sun was setting, on April 22nd, 2013, his wife Elaine holding his hand. Sven was born in Oslo, Norway on March 7, 1942. His family emigrated to Edmonton, Canada in 1952 and moved to Victoria in 1960. Sven attended Victoria High and U. Vic (BSc., MBA). He taught at Reynolds, Lambrick, Esquimalt and Mt. Douglas Secondary Schools. He was a well respected counselor and biology teacher. Predeceased by his parents, Sven and Greta Aspestrand. Left to mourn: his wife of 42 years, Elaine; sisters, Helene Marshall (Gary) and Susanne Ventura (Frank); nephews, Dan Marshall (Mary), Bryn Aspestrand (Fiona) and niece Susan Winther (Ivan); great nephews and niece, Tyler, Kevin, Clayton, Jasmine and Reid; mother-in-law Ellen Dickinson; brother's in law Gordon and Graham Dickinson and families. Sven will also be missed by a great many friends. We have lost a kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and talented man. A man with a great sense of humour and a loyal friend. No flowers please.
