FAIRS, Thomas F. Passed away peacefully on February 21, 2013 at Broadmead Lodge at the impressive age of 92. Dad was born July 1, 1920 in Halifax, NS, the younger of two sons; son of an Army Colonel, Dad lived in many cities across Canada. It was when they moved to Calgary where he met the love of his life, Colleen Joyce. Dad and Mom were married June 27, 1942 and were just shy of their 60th anniversary when Mom passed away in December 2001. Dad and Mom had five fabulous children Ted (Christine), Shelagh Nicholls (David), Dan, Nancy Fairs-Natland (Darrell) and Wendy Harris; as well as his grandchildren Paul, Ben, Tracy, Rob, Josh, Hannah and Zack; great-grandchildren Malik, Jasmine and Olivia. Tom is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Patricia and Charlie Veilleux (Calgary), Garry and Meridee Joyce (Parksville) and Lisa Fairs (Sidney) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was in the RCAF as a Lancaster Bomber mechanic until the war ended after that he was employed as an accountant in various Calgary oil companies. After retirement Mom and Dad moved to Victoria in 1983 where they took up boating. Dad was known for his quick wit and a good sense of humor; he had a passion for golf and a love for the outdoors. Dad was an avid sports enthusiast; member of the Calgary Winter Club and a fan of hockey night in Canada. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., In the Garden Room, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Broadmead Lodge/ Birch Lodge for their compassion. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
