September 11, 1935 - March 31, 2013

After a short illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Andy is lovingly remembered by his wife Eileen, sons Richard (Sandra), Daryl (Heather), daughter Kerri-Lea (Barry), son-in-law Rick, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers John (Fern), Bill (Pat), sister Elma (Bob), sister-in-law Linda, brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Maureen Dickie and brother-in-law Brian O'Hare, numerous nieces and nephews and family members in Scotland. Andy was predeceased by his mom and dad, nephew Bill, brother Jim, daughter Kyla-Mae, and grandson Barry Jr.

Andy was born in Bo'ness, Scotland and at age 17 left and arrived in Canada to begin a new life in 1953. In 1956 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and had a 37 year career serving on numerous ships and shore postings retiring as a Chief Petty Officer (Radar Plotter). While posted in Victoria in 1957 he met the love of his life, Eileen. They were married December 19, 1959 and together raised four children on both Canadian coasts. After Dad's retirement they traveled with close friends Barry and Marie Miller throughout the United States.

He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and was always ready and willing for one on one conversations. "Grandparents are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories and love."

Rest in peace Dad. You will be sadly missed and remain in our hearts forever. We love you and will think of you everyday.

The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Meyer, and all the doctors and nurses at Victoria General Hospital for their help, compassion and kind words. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.

A funeral service will be held Friday, April 5, 2013, at Our Lady of the Rosary 798 Goldstream in Langford at 11:00 am with internment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park 4673 Falaise Dr. A celebration of his life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 761 Station Ave at 1:00pm.
