ALMEIDA, Maria Isabel Batista There is great rejoicing in heaven today for the Lord has carried one of his own to the resting place that he has prepared for our dear Sister in Christ Maria Isabel Batista Almeida. Born on February 1st, 1932 to Luis and Germina Almeida in Auga de Pau, San Miguel, Azores, Portugal she immigrated to Victoria, BC, Canada in 1966, where she was re-united with her family which had previously immigrated. Tia Bella as she was affectionately known was predeceased by her Father and Mother, as well as her older brother, Grigorio. She loved being in the presence of her brothers Carlos, Eziquel and Paulo and her sisters Eduarda (Moniz) and Noemia (Massa) and their spouses, whom all survived her. Her life was blessed to include 18 nieces and nephews, 39 grand nieces and nephews, as well as one great-grand niece. She worked tirelessly as a housecleaner for many loving clients, as well as caring for her many nieces and nephews. She was a nurturing and loving daughter, a loyal sister, and a second mother to us all. An opportunity to offer last respects will be on Sunday April 27th, 2014 at McCall's Floral Chapel, 1400 Vancouver Street, Victoria from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A Celebration of Life service officiated by Pastor Dennis Scott will take place on Monday April 28th, 2014 at Oaklands Chapel, 2736 Fernwood Road, Victoria at 12:00 pm. A Christian burial to follow at the Royal Oak Burial Park. A time of fellowship with all her family will take place at Oaklands Chapel following the burial service. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Mt. Tolmie Hospital who provided such kind and compassionate care to our dear Isabel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in the name of Isabel Almeida. Absent from a painful body - present with her Saviour
