MANNING, Betty Louise July 4, 1916 November 26, 2011 Died at the age of 95 in Victoria's Royal Jubilee Hospital. Betty was the wife of Ted (M. E.) Manning, who died in 1988, and mother of Marlie (Tom Ward), Spencer (Kathleen Manning), Kathleen (Blair Mackenzie) and John (Maria Zerjav). She was Grammy to Sheena, John and Alan Manning, and Nana to Ian and Graham (Margaret Fay) Mackenzie. Betty grew up in Winnipeg, sandwiched between two brothers, Spencer (deceased in 1944) and Gordon Lough (deceased in 1975). Many happy summers were spent with her family at MLA Camp, Lake of the Woods. After graduation from the University of Manitoba ('38) and a short career in personnel, Betty joined the CWAC and rose to the rank of Captain. She and Ted married and settled in Edmonton, where they raised their family. Summers were spent at their much-loved cottage at Pigeon Lake where they became part of a summer community consisting of a broad cast of characters. Their days there were precious and ended only when they moved to Victoria in the mid-80's. Betty's family extends thanks to Donna Stuart, her confidante and friend during Betty's most senior years. Thanks also to Dr. Ted Rosenberg and the caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living and on the Bone Health Unit of the RJH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arthritic Society (BC & YT) or the CNIB. Betty's family has established a website: bettymanningfamily.ca for condolences and a slide show. A memorial service and informal lunch will be held on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, 1:00-3:30, at the clubhouse at Falcon Ridge Estates, 901 Kentwood Lane (see map on website). 643955
