RODGERS, Vera Edna Josephine (Sullivan) Although she was aiming to reach 100, Vera died on April 22, 2012 at the age of 97. Vera was born August 5, 1914 in Saskatchewan to Frances and Jeremiah Sullivan. Hers was a large family of brothers and sisters: Edward Sullivan, Kathleen Arden, Frances Banner, Wilfred Sullivan, Tony Sullivan, Mary French, Thomas Sullivan and Beatrice Gordienko, all of whom predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her long-time partner, Philip Gordon-Holmes. She spent many years living in Sooke, Victoria and Mill Bay. She spent the last years of her life at James Bay Care Centre where she received compassionate care. She leaves many nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews to miss her. A funeral mass for Vera will be held Friday, May 4, 12:10 pm at St. Andrew's Cathedral, Victoria, with a reception to follow in the adjoining reception room. Burial will take place in the church yard of St. Francis Xavier Church, Mill Bay at approximately 3:00 pm. 654845
