BAKER, Margaret Louise (Peggy) At rest in the Lord" Peggy was born in Cypress River, Manitoba, February 23, 1922 and died at home on May 4, 2012. She joyously celebrated her 90th birthday in February, surrounded by family and friends. She was the eldest of five daughters born to Ross and Hilda Kennedy, who predeceased her. Peggy is also predeceased by her husband Brace in 2006 and her sister Jackie in 2011. Peggy attended school and grew up in Winnipeg. She was active in the musical world school, church etc. in Winnipeg, Calgary, Brandon and in Victoria. Her specialty was accompanying singers and choirs a great joy. Peggy met Brace Baker in 1942 while she was a nursing student and he an intern. They were married in 1943 and had sixty-three happy years together. Peggy loved to travel and visited many places in Europe and North America that captured her interest. She is survived by three children, Brace Kennedy Baker, Carol Margaret Baker and Mary Ruth Currey; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sisters and extended family members. A celebration of Peggy's life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1155 Fort Street on Monday, May 14 at 2:30 pm with a reception to follow in the Holly Room.
