April 28, 1932 – May 13, 2012.

Joyce passed away peacefully in the complex care wing of Wexford Creek on Mothers' Day evening, after visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by daughter Deanna (David) of Penticton, and grandchildren James (Robin) of McKenzie, Kate (Ray) of Kamloops, and Heather (Nathan) of Lumby. She was also proud great-grandma to Heather, Ben and Alice.

Joyce was pre-deceased by her 2 brothers Grant and Roy Spencer, and will be missed by her 5 nieces and nephews and her beloved sister-in-law Dorothy Spencer.

A lifelong resident of Nanaimo, Joyce was born in Harewood, graduated from John Shaw High school, then continued her education at St. Anne's Academy. It was there she acquired the skills that led to a secretarial career spanning almost 50 yrs, and friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Joyce was a long-time member of St.Paul's Anglican church, and served terms as lay-reader, and as peoples' warden. She also took part in the choir, and played piano for extended care and prison outreach services.

A memorial service will be held in St.Paul's Anglican Church at 2 pm on June 2nd. A tea will follow at the Highview Terrace Clubhouse. For those wishing to do so, donations in Joyce's memory may be made towards St. Paul's parish ministry fund or building fund.

Very special thanks go to the exceptional staff at the Good Samaritan Wexford Creek for their wonderfully kind and compassionate care.
