ALEXANDER, Dr. Milnor November 21st, 1924 June 27th, 2012 Milnor was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Canada in 1966, becoming a Canadian citizen in 1973. She had a distinguished academic career graduating B.A. in 1946 and M.A. in 1950 from the University of Pennsylvania, and Ph.D. in Political Science from Bryn Maw College PA in 1961. She taught political science in Penn State U. and in the University of Regina. She was a dedicated activist, strong supporter of the women's movement and supporter of many societies promoting social welfare and the environment; and of the Labour movement. She ran as an NDP candidate in the Provincial election in 1986 in the Oak Bay-Gordon Head riding. Thanks are due to The Glenshiel where she was happy in her last years, and Hospice for the devoted care she received in her last few weeks. Milnor leaves three nieces and a nephew in the US. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Victoria Hospice Society. There will be a celebration of Milnor's life at 2:00 p.m. on July 10th, 2012 at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1155 Fort St., Victoria.
