Gordon B. Bush of Nanaimo, BC passed away on July 3, 2012 with family at his side.
The Guest Book is expired.
It is with great sadness that the Bush family announces the passing of its patriarch, Gordon B. Bush. While his struggle with cancer made his life challenging at the end, his incredible spirit, unwavering optimism and deep love of family shone through it all. Gord always had a welcoming smile when friends or family arrived. As a loving husband to Evelyn for 68 years, and as a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather Gord's deep connection to family and his perfectly timed sense of humour were lights that shone brightly as the leader of our family. Through countless jokes, puns and humorous moments he put smiles on the faces of all he encountered though none were bigger than his own. He will be forever missed by everyone whose lives he touched and were lucky enough to have encountered his caring spirit.
Gord served with the Dufferin Haldimand Rifles , Royal Hamilton Light Infantry and the Queens Own Rifles from 1940 - 1946 leaving service as a CSM. Serving his country was a great honour for him and he often spoke of the amazing individuals he met and relationships he formed including a very special one, at a dance class, that lasted over 68 years.
Gord enjoyed every day of his career that began with the BC Power Commission as it evolved to BC Hydro from where he retired as Superintendent of Production. Many of those he met through his career remained lifelong friends. Gord was a tireless volunteer and had an unceasing purpose to give back to his community. He was a Trustee of the East Wellington Fire Protection District for 55+ years and a proud member of the BC Hydro Power Pioneers.
Thanks to Dr. Goodall and his wonderful staff, Bowen Rd. Rexall Drugs Pharmacy staff, BC Cancer Agency, Home Support and the Palliative Program staff. A special thanks to the staff of Long Lake Chateau for their caring and support, especially Ted, Liz, Don and Andrea.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the BC Cancer Society is greatly appreciated.
An informal celebration of Gordon's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday July 21, 2012 at the East Wellington Fire Hall (3269 Jinglepot Rd) in Nanaimo, BC.
