CLARKE, Catherine Elizabeth (1966 - 2012) Catherine died tragically in a traffic accident in New Zealand on November 1st (October 31st Canada). Catherine was born in Cork, Ireland on August 24th 1966 and moved to Canada with the family in 1976. She was the daughter of Leonard and the late Elva Clarke. Survived by her sister Susan (Jason) and brother Anthony, who live in Vancouver and Anthony's twin Len (Shiho) who live in Tokyo. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. When Catherine was at High School she joined her father in 1982 during school holidays as a volunteer at the '9 - 10 Club, Serving Soup to the Hungry'. She became a member of the board of Directors and later President. Due to pressure of work she had to resign from the board this year as she felt she was not able to give the support that she felt necessary. After leaving High School she attended Camosun College and graduated with her C.M.A. For many years Cath worked for various ministries of the Provincial Government. Cath and her partner, Glenn were avid bird watchers. She also had a passion for sport and was in New Zealand to represent Canada for her age group in the World Triathlon Championship in Auckland. After she had successfully completed her triathlon she and Glenn volunteered for four hours in the paratriathlon competition and then was holidaying in New Zealand when the tragic accident happened. A Memorial service will be held in her honour at St. Patrick's Church on Haultain Street in late December or early January and a notice will be posted in the Times Colonist. Donations in her memory may be sent to the 9-10 Club, 740 View Street.
