WEST, George Harold (Bud) Harold was born in Manchester, England, 101 years ago & came to Canada with his family when he was 3 years old. He was predeceased by his father, William; his loving wife of 60 years, Verna in 1999 & his sister, Dorothy in 2011. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Norma (Ross), Lois (Richard). Dad was affectionately known as Papa to his three grandchildren, Chris, Denise (Geoff) & Scott (Andrea) & 6 great grandchildren, Spencer, Christin, Sarah, Lauren, Violet & Angus. He also leaves his nephew, Eric; nieces, Doreen, Shirley & Barbara. Harold owned a very successful butcher shop on May St. (West's Meat Market) for 42 years. His wife Verna worked tirelessly along side of him until the shop closed in 1983. After retirement they both enjoyed travel, bowling & dancing. Harold was an avid fisherman, hunter & golfer having many "holes in one" at Mt. Doug GC. Harold was a fixture at the Gorge Rd. Legion over the years enjoying dancing on Saturday night & having a pint or two. The family was greatly moved by the warmth & love shown by the nurses & staff at 3 Dogwood at Oak Bay Lodge where Dad spent the last year & a half of his life. Thank you to Dr. How for his special care & to Trish his companion for her valuable time spent with him. Special thanks to his devoted son-in-law, Ross for his many visits & taking Dad to "happy hour" at the Lodge.
