HICKMAN, Alice May Alice May Hickman passed away suddenly at Victoria General Hospital on December 25, 2012. She was born at home in Victoria on June 21, 1922 and lived her whole life in the Victoria area. In her early years she worked as a telephone operator before starting her family. Alice was an avid contributor to the Saanich Agricultural Fair with numerous prizes won with her knitting, needlework and preserves. Later on in life she took up horseshoe playing and competed well into her 80's, participating in many successful tournaments. Alice had a zest for life, boundless energy and thoroughly enjoyed the people around her. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her. Alice was predeceased by her husband Hank of 47 years, and her twin sister, Nancy. She is survived by her two daughters Judy (John) Carswell and Gillian (Mark) Harper and her seven grandchildren: Ben (Liv), Brett, Alana (Byron), Devin (Olivia), Kyla (Andrew), Cameron (Emma) and Jaclyn. In celebration of Alice a tea will be held January 5th at 2:00 pm, at the Greater Victoria Horseshoe Club, 620 Kenneth Street. Alice was a strong advocate for both children and animals.
