SHEPPARD, Jeanne Muriel (nee Jones) Passed away in Hospice on January 2, 2013 with her devoted son, Greg at her side. She passed peacefully and with abundant dignity. Jeanne was born May 22, 1921 in Worthing, Sussex, England. She was the oldest child of George and Violet Jones. Her youth in Worthing was forever a great inspiration to her and her love of Sussex passionate. Many tales she would tell of hours on her beloved bike wandering the countryside, the hills and lanes and beaches. Youth was one of delight and wonder. The challenge of war came, with different responsibilities her country demanded. She met her husband whose tank was parked on the curb in front of her house. The bond at that moment was made in heaven, they were married on May 3, 1944 after long intervals of parting. It was then her first son arrived when still on the Queen Mary to continue 68 1/2 years of marriage and another son and daughter. Jeanne was an artist of paint and clay. She taught pottery classes out of her lovely studio and thought greatly of her students. She was an intense and loving individual often opinionated, sometimes demanding. Her spirit will not be readily forgotten. Spiritual growth and philosophical endeavor were a constant for her. She was a devout Anglican whilst forever interested and learning about many eastern religions. Jeanne leaves behind her husband, Patrick; her 2 sons, John (Joanne), Gregory and her daughter, Avril (Tim). She also leaves grandchildren, Joseph, Nova, Nion, Matt and Bronwyn and 3 great grandchildren and her loving sister, Avril Johns. She gave devoted love to all her children. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on January 17, at 11:00 am. The family gives thanks to the capable and worthy staff of Hospice Emergency at R.J.H.
