Christopher Alexander GIBB

GIBB, Christopher Alexander December 7th, 1935 - March 26th, 2014 Chris passed away peacefully at Hospice in Victoria, BC. He was born in Hines Creek, Alta., and moved to Victoria in 1944. After high school he joined the RCAF, where he received his trades training in electronics. In 1960 he began his career working as an electronics technician for Sir Charles Wright and UBC, eventually transferring to PNL, Defence Research Establishment Pacific. He made many research trips to the high Arctic. For many years Chris was part of the church community in Victoria and Sooke. Chris was devoted to his family and took great joy in his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his father and mother, William and Christina Gibb; brothers, Charlie, Stanley, David, Jock, Robert. sister, Marjorie. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Ina; his brother William (Pat); four children, Douglas (Brenda), Donna Southwood (Thom), Gordon (Julia), and Leanne. Ten grandchildren: Grace and Adam Gibb; Joel, Hannah and Samuel Southwood; Brandon, Eliza and Alana Gibb; Caleb and Joshua Gibb; step-grandchildren, Bryan and Gordon; step-great grandchildren Adrianna and Damian. The family wishes to thank Dr. Susan Matthews, Dr. D. Saltman, Home and Community Care Team, the Hospice team and all those who took part in lovingly caring for him. Visitation: Monday, March 31, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 pm at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria. There will be a graveside service Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hatley Memorial Gardens, 2050 Sooke Road., in the Garden of Sermon on the Mount.
