Ronald MACLEOD Obituary

MACLEOD, Ronald Bruce It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ron MacLeod on Friday, April 25th. He was 84 years old. Born and raised in Victoria, Ronald Bruce MacLeod enjoyed regaling friends with stories of his adventuresome youth with brothers Stu and Don. Ron enjoyed many sports; he was an avid baseball and soccer player. His focus became golf, which also became a life-long career and passion. Ron was a member of the CPGA and spent his early years playing tours events. However, his greatest love was being the Head Professional at Jasper Park Lodge for 42 years. It allowed him to spend more time with his beloved wife Sonia and children Bradley, Lauren, Arthur and Sharon. His extended family included his "pro-shop boys" who affectionately called him "Bomber." Ron is survived by his wife, children, brother Donald MacLeod, son-in-law Robert Hotte and grandson Ryan Hotte. He follows siblings Stuart MacLeod, Lalia Wilkinson and Marguerite Howard. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in support of brain cancer research or a favorite charity. Ron was an avid supporter of several charities during his lifetime. Ron was a man full of life, and he enjoyed it immensely. He enjoyed a good cocktail, a hot bowl of soup and joking with his family and friends. He will be missed, but his stories will live on. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Uplands Golf Club on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

Sonia, Brad, Lauren, Arthur, and Sharon: sending my condolences upon hearing of "Uncle Ron's" passing. I always thought of him as my exceptional Godfather, and even though much time has passed and we have taken different paths in our lives, the memories are very strong. He will live on in those memories.

Dear Sonia, Brad, Lauren, Arthur and Sharon:
It was so sad to learn of Ron's passing and Sheila and I offer our sincere condolences.
It was a privilege to work for “Bomber” for 7 summers at Jasper. I thought of Ron more like a father figure and mentor rather than a boss during my time in his Pro Shop. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think back fondly of the times I spent in Ron's company whether on the golf course, working along side him in his Pro Shop, or enjoying cocktails, dinner and fun evenings.
May your family cherish Ron's love for life, his exceptional friendly and patient manner and the positive effect he had on the many many people he touched. We are all better off having known Ron and all that he did during his remarkable life!
Thinking of you all.
