Carl Little Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Comox Valley Seniors Village, Courtenay, British Columbia, on June 2, 2016, at the age of 92. Carl was a gifted musician, music administrator, father and husband, who will be missed for his kindness, intelligence, and wry sense of humour. Carl worked for many years as Producer, Radio Music, for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, first in Montreal, and then in Toronto. In 1953 Carl, with brother George and respective spouses Frances and Madeleine, founded CAMMAC (Canadian Amateur Musicians) which continues to flourish today as a summer long musical program in the Laurentian Mountains of Québec. In 1978 Carl retired and moved to Victoria, BC, with second wife, Barbara Wolfond. Carl was active throughout his life as a church organist/choir director in Don Mills, Ontario, and Sidney, British Columbia. Carl is survived by wife Barbara Wolfond Little, children Christine (John) Ardagh, Jennifer MacLachlan, Geoffrey Little, Stephen Douglas, step-children Michael (Natasha) Wolfond, Rhonda Wolfond, Joe (Grace) Wolfond, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and first wife Frances Mathieson, as well as by brothers Frank, John (Pam), sister Edna Knock, and many nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his parents and by brother George. A private celebration of Carl's life is planned for late June, in Toronto, Ontario. The family thanks the staff at Comox Valley Seniors Village for the excellent care Carl received for the past six years. If you would like to remember Carl with a donation to CAMMAC, please go to their donations page at http://cammac.ca/en/don.

Carl was a remarkable and highly talented colleague at CBC who distinguished himself as as an outstanding music producer, and developer of Canadian musical talent through such means as the CBC Talent Festival Competition and countless other broadcasts, I feel privileged to have worked with him for so many years.
