Thomas M. Thorne
Thomas Michael (Mike) Thorne, age 59, of Tuscumbia, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday, 11-1 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Father Rick Oberheide officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mike was a Colbert County native and was of the Catholic faith. He was warehouse manager for Transtar of Florence. He loved Auburn football, NASCAR racing and animals. He was preceded in death by his father, Maxwell (Bobby) Thorne; his brother, James Robert (Bobby) Thorne; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Thorne and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Robertson.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Phipps; mother, Virginia Robertson Thorne; daughter, Emily Phipps; sisters, Susan Kirkland (Ron) and Judy Tate (Bobby).
Pallbearers are Jim Allen, Jamie White, Luke Myhan, Glen Helmick, Joel Southern, Joshua Southern, Joseph Southern and Danny Henson.
Honorary Pallbearers are Don Kimbrough, Bob McKinney, Jim Pride and Wyatt Jackson.
Memorials may be made to the Colbert County Animal Shelter or a favorite charity.
