Sandrell, Antoinette - Loretto  
Antoinette Sandrell LORETTO, TENN. Antoinette "Toni" Sandrell, 87, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Loretto Memorial Chapel. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Loretto Sacred Heart Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Singleton, Paul* - Vina  
Paul Singleton, 92, Vina, Alabama, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at his home in Vina. He was born in Alabama to Enos and Merdie Humphres Singleton. He was a farmer for more than 50 years and worked at Blue Bell for 20 years. He was a member of Hurricane Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the 56th Signal Battalion, and received a Bronze Star for his service. Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Brother Jerry Humpries, the Rev. David Smith and Brother W.D. Humphries officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements. Survivors include six children, Mary Frances Fowler (Jimmy), of Corinth, Mississippi, Nancy Pauline Emerson (Steve) and Judy Faye Miller (James), all of Hamilton, Alabama, Roxann DeFoor (David), of Moulton, Alabama, Golda Mae Singleton, of Phil Campbell, Alabama, and Steven Lee Singleton, of Vina, Alabama; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Reba Roxie Holland Singleton, son, David Paul Singleton, one sister, Verdie Holland, and two brothers, Alfred Singleton and Cecil Singleton. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jimmer and Jonathan Fowler, Joshua and Jeffrey DeFoor, Jimmy and Colby Emerson and David Watts. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 26, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, and from 10-11 a.m Tuesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Smith Sr., Hubert D.* - Tuscumbia  
Hubert D. Smith Sr. Hubert Dink "Bump" Smith Sr., 91, passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. The family will receive friends for visitation today, 6-9 p.m., at Colbert Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held on Thursday at Colbert Memorial Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Brother Rick Oberheide officiating. Mr. Smith was a native of Riverton, Alabama and resided in Tuscumbia, Alabama where he could be seen most days sitting on his porch enjoying the day. He was preceded in death by wife, Imogene Smith, parents, Dink Smith and Emmer Smith, brothers, Frank, Joe, and Walter Smith, sister, Ruth Matthews, and son, Jimmy Smith. He is survived by a sister, Corky Smith McKinney; sons, Dink Smith (wife, Linda) and Tommy Smith (wife, Debbie); seven grandchildren, Hugh Smith, Jason Smith, William Smith, Christopher Smith, Tanya Smith Wahl, Lindsey Sizemore, and Jamie Smith; and six great-grandchildren, Nicolette Smith, Emma Smith, Morgan Smith, Halen Smith, Jordan Wahl, and Kendyl Wahl. Steen, Cecil* - Rogersville  
Cecil Steen Cecil F. Steen, 96, of Rogersville, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Hilltop Assisted Living. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at Elkins East Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Brother Bobby Collins officiating. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Steen retired from TVA and was a member and deacon of Elgin Crossroads Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include his sons, Chris Steen (Carolyn), of Rogersville, and Richard Steen (Jo Ann), of Athens; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mae Wee Steen, infant daughter, Suzanne, and 12 brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Corey Steen, Kevin Steen, Michael Steen, Steven Burchell, Stacey Childress, and Doug Burchell. Special thanks are given to Dr. David Hollis and his staff and the staffs of North Alabama Hospice and Hilltop Assisted Living. Joan Stutts Joan Stutts, 53, of Rogersville, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at her residence. She was a graduate of Lexington High School. Sykes, Bobby J.* - Florence  
Bobby J. Sykes Bobby June Sykes, age 81, of Florence, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ellis Coats officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Grandsons will serve at pallbearers. He was a member of the church of Christ and served his country from 1953 until 1956 in the Korean Conflict as a communications specialist. He married the love of his life, Barbara Wesson Sykes, on September 11, 1953. He worked until retirement as a union insulator for Local 78. Preceding him in death were his parents, Cullen and Gladys Sykes, daughter, Wanda Sykes Elias, sons, Bobby Rae Sykes and Phil Sykes, and brother, Donald Sykes. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara Sykes; sons, Robert "Billy" Sykes (Teresa) and Walter Sykes (Angela); grandchildren, Tommie Elias, Michael Elias, Joshua Sykes, Justin Sykes (Tiffany), Cory Sykes, Christopher Sykes (Sara), and Chad Sykes (Erin); great-granddaughter, Taylor Elias; sisters, Barbara Peace (Robert) and Carol Morrison; son-in-law, Tom Elias; and daughter-in-law, Shari Sykes.
