Kenneth A. Williams Jr. Kenneth A. Williams Jr., 66, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at ECM Hospital. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Florence. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Brandon E. Miles and Dr. Richard Gillespie officiating. A graduate of Coffee High School and the University of Alabama, Ken served in the National Guard 115th Signal Battalion. He attended First Presbyterian Church, Florence, where he served as an elder, deacon, treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. Ken managed Williams and Son Oil Company for over 30 years. He became a realtor in 2003. He was a member of the Florence Rotary Club and the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. A natural athlete, Ken regularly played tennis, racquetball, and squash. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including a yearly fishing trip to the gulf. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Landis Williams; daughter, Anne Landis Jetton (Jeff), of Nashville, Tennessee; and son, Benjamin Craig Williams, of Smyrna, Georgia. Robert L. Williams Robert Lee Williams, age 70, of Killen, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014. Visitation will be today, 1-2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Robert McAurthur officiating. Burial will be at Killen Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his father, Willie R. Williams, and sister, Elizabeth Turberville. Rebecca A. Cofield Rebecca Ann Lindsey Cofield, age 72, of Florence, died Dec. 14, 2014, after an extended illness. The family has issued the following statement: "We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers for Mom and our family during this difficult time. She was loved deeply by many, and we will miss her beyond belief. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend with an unrivaled sense of humor that got us through so much. Mama we love you so much. Further, it was her wish that we forego the funeral process; so, in keeping with her wishes, there are no plans for a memorial service. We encourage anyone wanting to honor her life, please do so by making a contribution in her name to a charity of your choice. Mom's remains will be placed next to Daddy (Bill Cofield) as she wanted." She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Edward Lindsey and Elizabeth Horton McKelvey, husband, Bill Cofield, daughter, Beth Cofield Grisham, grandson, Nicholas Watkins, and brother, Donald Lindsey. Survivors are her daughters, Crystal Cofield McClure, Florence, and Leigh Ann Byrom (Larry), Muscle Shoals; grandchildren, Joshua Watkins, Florence, Chelsea Watkins, Birmingham, and Mischa Post, Atlanta; and great-grandchildren, Aiden Watkins and Achilles Watkins. Gotcher, Mae* - Tuscumbia  
Mae Gotcher Mrs. Mae Gotcher passed away at home surrounded by her family Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John C. Gotcher, parents, Ralph and Annie Smith, sister, Lena Tobert, brothers, Ottis Smith, R.C. Smith, James Smith, and Aaron Smith, and niece Paula Anderson. She was a life-long member of Mount Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church. One of her biggest blessings was to teach Vacation Bible School. She was a homemaker who served others through the gifts of cooking and sewing. She is survived by her sisters, Mavis Hillyard (Mike) and Karen Beaver (Wayne); nieces, Anna Elliott (Tommy) and Kala Whitehall (Troy); nephew, Paul Tolbert (Sabrina); great-niece, Carla Wilkinson (Randy), great-nephews, Doug Elliott, Alan Elliott (Brandy), and Joseph Tolbert (Jeannie); great-great- nieces, Hope Wilkinson, MiKala Whitehall, Lilly Elliott, and Gracie Willis; great-great-nephews, Joshua Tolbert and Johnny Tolbert; special sister-in-law, Betty Jean Smith; special brother-in-law, Lee Mac Gotcher; and special friends, Clara Sheffield, Shirley Liverett, the members of Mount Pleast Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and many other people who called her Aunt Mae. Special thanks to North Alabama Cancer Center doctors and staff for their care during the past 14 years, the caregivers on fourth floor at Shoals Hospital, and the staff of Hospice of the Shoals. Bettye J. Herndon Bettye Jo Herndon, 81, Russellville, Alabama, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at her residence. She lived her entire life in Franklin County and was a member of Duncan Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends today from noon until 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Harley Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Creek Cemetery. Survivors include son, Doug Reed; daughter, Deborah Contreras Mitchell; grandchildren, Chris Contreras, Sabin Contreras, Norman Mitchell, Brian Mitchell, Dustin Mitchell, Brandon Reed, Kimberly Alexander, and Phyllis Mills; 18 great-grandchildren; nephew, William Robert Jackson Jr.; and nieces, Margaret Jackson and Lynn Jackson. Bud McNatt Charley O'Neal "Bud" McNatt, 65, of Red Bay, Alabama, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born in the Halltown community and worked for Red Bay Housing Authority. He attended First United Methodist Church in Halltown. Services will be on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 3:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Alabama, with Brother Scott Lindsey and Brother Bill Harper officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery, Vina, Alabama. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements. Survivors are two sons, Clayton McNatt and Levi McNatt, both of Red Bay, Alabama; the mother of his children, Janice Armstrong McNatt, Red Bay, Alabama; stepson, Jason Oliver, Tucson, Arizona; father and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Lavell Mayfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy McNatt and Verda Barksdale McNatt, and two sisters, Linda Davis and Betty Jo Noble. Pallbearers will be Johnnie Weatherford, Wade Barksdale, Alton Barksdale, Randy Rogers, Norris Paul Rogers, and Mark Armstrong. Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, and until service time Wednesday.
