Amanda S. Hamby
Amanda Saralee Hamby came to this world March 5, 1974, and left it Feb. 12, 2014. In that short time she brought joy and peace to her family and friends.
This world was a brighter place because of her. It will be even brighter if we all try to be more like Amanda. Her joy for life and all it has to offer and her love for her family and friends was never ending. To know Amanda was to know what a peaceful loving human is. Her journey in life was fruitful, she touched so many with her smile.tie-dyed shirts and peace signs have new meaning to all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Florence. Amanda's friend, Dr.
Travis Wilson, will close the celebration with a prayer.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Amanda had multiple degrees from UNA and Auburn University and was a faculty member at Columbus State University in Georgia. She was working toward a Ph.D. in English at Auburn University.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents.
Survivors include her partner, Chip Davis; her father, Larry Hamby; her mother, Carolyn Cain McGee; brothers, Michael Perry (Leah), of Atlanta, and Brad Perry; and niece, Claire Perry.
