Amelia A. Busby
Amelia Ann Byrd Busby, 65, a longtime Louisville, Ky. resident passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. She was a 1965 graduate of Frisco City High School in Frisco City, Ala., and a 1969 graduate of Troy State University (Bachelor of Science, Social Science). She was the former outreach librarian for the Muscle Shoals Regional Library in Florence, Ala. She was a member of Fern Creek United Methodist Church in Louisville, Ky.
Her wonderful spirit, beautiful soprano singing voice, delightful way with children and the elderly and arts and crafts talent, particularly with ceramics, are but a few of her God-given gifts that are missed even now. She touched those around her with her sheer joy for life. Her greatest Christian witness was the thoughtful way she lived her life.
A Frisco City, Ala. native, she was born on June 20, 1947, to the late Doris N. and Raymon Byrd, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her grandparents, Ida Maude and Richard Ben Byrd, of Frisco City, Ala.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert M. Busby, of Louisville, Ky. (Troy State University, 1968); sisters, Judith Bearce (Denny), of Birmingham, Ala., Samilda (Sami) Harvison, of Pell City, Ala., Jane Slater (George), of Melbourne, Fla.; five nephews; one niece; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Leak-Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd., Montgomery, AL 36109, with the Rev. Ron Moore of Shepardsville, Ky. presiding. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. with a chapel service at 2 p.m. and graveside services following at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William C. McLauchlin, Bradley McLauchlin, Brian McLauchlin, Robert E. Lusk, Ralph Ekonen and Eddie Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Reese, Paul Robinson, Denny Bearce, George Slater and Eugene Robinson.
